About The Okizoo Crew
OkiZoo was born from a sub culture, kids exspressing there talents in many ways… From skating to B-Boying, Graff, M.C.ing, Djing… Beatmaking… etc…
Its like when you go to the ZOO,you know you want to see ALL THE ANIMALS…You got monkeys, lions, giraffe, etc…. Like the many animals in ZOO ,the wide range of personalities from all over the globe is what puts the ZOO in OkiZoo.
OKINAWA, JAPAN is where the crew was originaly formed… Living there allowed them to embrace the Island’s unique Japanese culture and mind state which is a slightly more laid back than there cousins across in mainland Japan. Heavily influenced by Rastafari culture and retro fashion, the island is paradise and has it’s own unique style that no place on earth can duplicate.
OkiZoo, heavily influenced from the culture around them, mixed into the pot OKI tripping with DJing, and Beat making… Easily shifting between the genres of jungle,drum n bass, hip hop, house, jazz and rock… Whatever it takes to make the people move. OkiZoo has no walls, and have evolved into as a crew with no limitations. OkiZoo is a crew that intermingles many styles of music with ease. With DJ’s that specialize in Techno,Drum & Bass, Electronica, Hip Hop, Turntableism Down Tempo, House, Club Jazz, and Soul music.
Members currently reside in various spots all over the world. From Seattle Washington, Tokyo Japan, and Bangkok Thailand just to name a few, OkiZoo has come to be know on on every continent in the World . Bringing a message of unity within man without all the corny self-gratifying evangelizing that comes with the brand of “consciousness” .
The goal: To keep on pushing the limits of life and music… Never falling back, constantly pushing forward…They are not thugs, nor are they some elitist hip hoppers..posing skater kidz…yuppie artists or ravers. The crew needs no labels. They are who they are… the children of the dance, the pulse beneath the trance, the flow and the beat. Don’t try to define it….or deny it… OkiZoo
